Chief Minister M.K. Stalin virtually inaugurated the Multi-Storey Silver Anklet Manufacturing Centre at Ariyagoundampatti in Salem district on Tuesday. Built at a cost of ₹25.29 crore, the facility was announced in 2022 in response to silver anklet manufacturers’ demand for a common manufacturing hub.
District Collector R. Brindha Devi attended the event and later inspected the facility, which spans 1.20 acres and features 102 rooms to support micro, small, and medium enterprises.
C. Sree Anandharajan, president of the Salem Silver Anklet Manufacturers Handicraft Welfare Association, expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister, stating that the centre would benefit both manufacturers and customers by centralizing production. He urged the Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO) to transfer ownership to manufacturers instead of offering it on rent, noting that a 50% Union Government subsidy was provided for construction.
Additionally, the Chief Minister inaugurated an industrial estate at Umayalpuram in Pethanaickenpalayam for ₹4 crore and the Salem Print Cluster at Seelanaickenpatti, developed on 1.02 acres at a cost of ₹13.46 crore.
