In a major boost to India’s aerospace ambitions, Airbus Helicopters has awarded a contract to Mahindra Aerostructures Pvt Ltd (MASPL) to manufacture the main fuselage of its H125 light single-engine helicopter. The production will take place at MASPL’s Bengaluru facility, with industrialization beginning immediately and the first delivery targeted for 2027.
This deal comes on the heels of a similar agreement in April 2025, when MASPL was entrusted with manufacturing the fuselage for Airbus’s H130 helicopter. Airbus officials said the latest contract reflects their growing confidence in India as a critical hub for global aerospace manufacturing, further strengthened by the upcoming H125 Final Assembly Line in Karnataka.
The H125 is among the world’s best-selling single-engine helicopters, widely used for passenger transport, aerial work, law enforcement, tourism, medical evacuation, and rescue missions. Airbus already sources over USD 1.4 billion annually in components and services from India, and the new contract will deepen the country’s role in its global supply chain.
Dr. Anish Shah, Group CEO & MD, Mahindra Group, said, “We are delighted to partner with Airbus on its ‘Make in India’ plans. This contract strengthens our long- term partnership and reflects Mahindra Group and Airbus’ role in building India’s aerospace ecosystem. At Mahindra, we are committed to supporting the Government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative and look forward to deepening our collaboration with Airbus.”
The partnership is expected to strengthen India’s position in the international aerospace sector as Airbus, along with Mahindra and Tata Advanced Systems, expands its local manufacturing ecosystem covering design, assembly, maintenance, and exports.
