NORD-NORDAC-LINK: NORD will present the new NORDAC LINK variants – with Ethernet on board and extensive integrated functional safety

At LogiMAT 2026, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS will present its newest developments with which the solution provider enables greater efficiency, reliability and flexibility. To be presented in Stuttgart: the decentralised NORDAC LINK frequency inverter with extended Ethernet and safety functions.

From 24 to 26 March, the focus at the trade fair grounds in Stuttgart will once again be on intralogistics. As an experienced industry partner, NORD DRIVESYSTEMS is at the forefront when it comes to the motto of the leading international trade fair LogiMAT 2026: “Passion for Details – Discover the Difference”. Trade visitors can experience the drive solutions of the system supplier from Bargteheide in person in Hall 3, Stand 3C41.

The new NORDAC LINK: End-to-end functionality for more flexibility

NORD will present the new variants of its decentralised NORDAC LINK frequency inverter series. They feature Ethernet on board, allowing the frequency inverters to be easily connected to existing networks. Via PROFIsafe or FSoE, they can also be integrated into a fail-safe application. STO, SS1-t, SS1-r, SLS, SMS and SSM are integrated as drive-based functional safety. Safe digital inputs and outputs enable direct connection of fail-safe periphery components. Thanks to the CFC open-loop injection method, the NORDAC LINK also allows for encoderless control of high-efficiency permanent synchronous motors in dynamic applications.

The NORDAC LINK for wall mounting therefore provides the same functions as the motor-mountable NORDAC ON. Both are part of a new modular system with which NORD offers users a new degree of design flexibility thanks to end-to-end decentralised drive electronics for its asynchronous IE3 and synchronous IE5+ motors.

LogiDrive: Modular drive systems for energy and cost efficiency

Drive-related control with NORDAC LINK and NORDAC ON also plays a decisive role for the LogiDrive solution space from NORD. It offers two standardised modular systems that combine motor, gear unit and decentralised drive electronics to user-friendly, low-maintenance drive solutions for intralogistics in the post & parcel, airport and warehouse sectors. LogiDrive Advance with NORDAC LINK and the IE5+ synchronous motor is optimised in terms of energy efficiency. The system provides high efficiency over a large speed and load range, therefore enabling variant reduction for optimised stocking of parts. LogiDrive Basic, consisting of the NORDAC ON and the IE3 asynchronous motor, is the cost-optimised variant with a compact size and high power density.

NORD ECO: Significant energy savings with optimised drive solutions

Energy and cost efficiency remain the decisive challenges in intralogistics applications. At LogiMAT, NORD will demonstrate the contribution the drive solutions can make to both new and existing installations. With its NORD ECO consultation service, the solution provider analyses the current consumption in systems and uncovers savings potential. In this way, numerous users have benefitted from drive systems optimised by NORD. The highest saving achieved was 1165 kWh per year. This corresponds to the amount of electricity that could supply a single-person household for six months. Heating has a significant impact on EV range, particularly during winter. MAHLE HeatX Range+ reduces the energy demand for air conditioning in electric vehicles by approximately 20 percent compared to conventional exhaust air systems. As a result, drivers benefit from extended range per battery charge and first-class interior air quality. “Our HeatX Range+ heat recovery concept maximizes the everyday practicality of electric vehicles in winter and makes a decisive contribution to further increasing the attractiveness of electric mobility,” explained Martin Wellhoeffer, Member of the MAHLE Group Management Board, responsible for the business unit Thermal and Fluid Systems. Thanks to its modular design, manufacturers can easily and cost-effectively integrate the new system into existing vehicle architectures.

MAHLE has succeeded in extending driving range by nearly 10 kilometers with an innovative and economical solution – as testing with a typical mid-size electric vehicle at an outside temperature of -7°C and an interior temperature of 20°C demonstrated. At the same time, the continuous supply of oxygen-rich air ensures high interior air quality and minimizes the risk of fogging on vehicle windows.

The new heat recovery system uses the air conditioning evaporator to extract and utilize heat energy from the vehicle cabin’s exhaust air. As the air directed outside passes through the evaporator, it heats the refrigerant while leaving the cabin. The refrigerant then transfers the stored energy to the fresh air intake before it enters the vehicle interior. This efficiently preheats the fresh air and reduces heating power demand at winter temperatures compared to conventional exhaust air systems.

The new heat recovery system has no adverse effect on the air flow performance or acoustic behavior of the vehicle air conditioning system. In implementing this innovative energy recovery technology, MAHLE drew on its extensive experience developing and manufacturing vehicle climate control systems. “As early as the 1990s, MAHLE introduced the ‘Economizer’, the first cabin heat recovery system concept for passenger and commercial vehicles, thereby pioneering today’s trend toward efficient cabin climate control,” said Dr. Uli Christian Blessing, Vice President R&D Thermal and Fluid Systems at MAHLE. The current heat recovery layout is designed for refrigerant R1234yf and can be adapted to all alternative refrigerants with only minor modifications.

The innovative system was presented to the public for the first time at SCHWEISSEN & SCHNEIDEN in Essen and at FABTECH in Chicago and caused quite a stir among all those who often weld long, precise seams. Velo impresses welding specialists with its assisted torch guidance and constant welding speed—for perfect, reproducible seams with reduced physical strain.

Long welds pose challenges even for experienced welders: consistent speed and precise torch guidance are crucial for the quality of the seam—but at the same time difficult and above all strenuous to maintain over longer distances.

This is precisely where Velo comes into its own, as the Velocity Assistant makes it possible for the first time to control the welding speed during manual welding. As a result, it supports a wide range of applications, especially where long, even welds are required—for example, in the areas of commercial transportation, heavy-duty machinery, steel construction, or apparatus engineering. Velo is suitable for thin-sheet applications as well as for thick-sheet welding in steel, CrNi, or high-strength steel.

A quantum leap in manual welding

At the heart of Velo is a second wire—the so-called Velo wire, which works without an arc and without an additional gas feed. This wire touches the workpiece in its solid state and generates a forward movement through friction. The travel speed of the Velo wire determines the welding speed.

The Velo wire keeps the distance between the workpiece and the contact tip constant and “pushes” the torch along the seam edge, notch, or chamfer without any special seam preparation. In all of this, the Velo wire only adds minimal additional material to the seam: the wire consumption corresponds exactly to the seam length.

“If you allow yourself to relinquish some control, you can now produce perfect welds in manual welding at unprecedented speed by simply holding the torch,” explains Franziska Eichhorn, Strategic Product Manager at Fronius International. “Test users confirm noticeably less strain and a significant increase in precision and welding quality.”

Whether beginner or professional—Velo supports them all

Velo is a real game changer: while beginners quickly achieve high-quality welds thanks to the supportive guidance, professionals benefit from the relief provided for long or complex welding tasks. Cramping and fatigue are a thing of the past and the seam quality remains consistently high.

A special highlight: under certain conditions, Velo can achieve welding speeds comparable to those of robotic welding. This increases productivity considerably.

Simply upgrade—get started immediately

Velo is compatible with existing TPS/i devices from 320 A and iWave Multiprocess PRO systems and can be easily retrofitted. All you need is:

  • the wirefeeder for the Velo wire
  • a suitable torch adapter with Velo wire feeding system
  • the corresponding software activation

Integration into existing systems is quick and uncomplicated—without the need for complex conversions.

Focus on ergonomics and flexibility

The Velo holder can be rotated 360° without tools and locks securely into place. If accessibility is restricted, the Velo system components can be simply unclipped from the holder and set to one side. Thanks to its flexibility, the system is suitable for all positions—even for pipe welds with 360° seams or multi-layer applications.

A large operating range is ensured through the five-meter-long Velo wire feeding system. The system is activated directly on the welding torch, meaning that it can be deactivated at any time if required in order to switch flexibly between manual and assisted guidance.

Walter AG is completing its Groov¡tec™ GD grooving tool range with new offering, making it universally applicable for all applications in grooving/parting-off, groove turning and Copy turning. Reinforced G5041 and neutral G5042 Parting blades are new to the range. Both variants are available with or without integrated Precision cooling. The range is complemented by the G5111 axial grooving system and Walter Capto™ turning holders (C3-C6) for the G5011 Groov¡tec™ GD grooving system for radial grooving. Walter now offers users a particularly flexible solution for radial and axial machining: in all common materials – from steel and cast iron to difficult-to-cut materials. The system also impresses with high process reliability and performance for deep grooving operations and complex geometries.

The company’s flagship education programmes – Nand Ghar, Shiksha Sambal, Unchi Udaan, and Jeevan Tarang — continue to transform lives by improving access to quality education, promoting academic excellence, and empowering children with disabilities across its operational regions impacting lives of over 10 lakh children in the last five years.

    Education has long been a cornerstone of Hindustan Zinc’s social impact philosophy. Through its Shiksha Sambal initiative, the company supports 35,000+ students across 140 schools, strengthening foundational learning in Science, Mathematics, and English. 30,984 classes have been conducted to enhance comprehension and performance levels, contributing to an impressive 95% overall pass percentage in Class 10 board exams — with 23 out of 66 schools achieving a perfect 100% result. The company has also established four STEM laboratories in Udaipur and Pantnagar to ignite scientific curiosity, developed 26 model schools and renovated 10 schools to create improved learning environments.

    Going beyond school education, Hindustan Zinc’s Unchi Udaan programme continues to create pathways for talented students from rural and tribal communities to pursue higher education in India’s premier institutions. So far, 150 students secured admission in prestigious engineering and government colleges, including IITs, with all participants passing in first division. Notably, 32 students have been placed in top-tier organisations, securing an average annual package of ₹10 lakh, and the highest reaching ₹21 lakh becoming a testament to the programme’s focus on mentorship and excellence.

    For children with special needs, Hindustan Zinc’s Jeevan Tarang initiative, launched in 2017, continues to champion inclusivity and empowerment. Through this programme, over 2,600 children with disabilities have benefitted from initiatives that include Indian Sign Language awareness sessions, mental health and hygiene workshops, and pre-vocational training designed to foster independence and confidence. The company’s inclusive programmes across Ajmer, Bhilwara, and Udaipur ensure that children of all abilities have equal access to education and opportunity.

    A flagship initiative of the Anil Agarwal Foundation, Nand Ghars are modernised Anganwadis, developed in partnership with the Integrated Child Development Services (ICDS), built on four core pillars – nutrition, education, healthcare, and women’s empowerment. Each centre is equipped with digital learning tools, solar energy, safe drinking water, and healthcare linkages, while also offering skilling opportunities for women. Within Hindustan Zinc’s operational areas, nearly 2000 Nand Ghars are fostering early childhood development, healthier mothers, and empowered rural women, positively impacting nearly 3.7 lakh women and children.

    Sports are also a vital pillar of youth development, fostering physical fitness, teamwork, discipline, and confidence. In line with its vision of promoting holistic growth through sports, Hindustan Zinc established the Zinc Football Academy — a first-of-its-kind residential academy at Zawar, Rajasthan. The initiative represents a major stride in nurturing football talent from the grassroots. So far, the academy has trained over 3250 young athletes, many of whom have gone on to represent their district, state, and the nation, contributing to Rajasthan’s growing sporting excellence.

    Walter is launching a world first on the market with the multi-row thread milling cutter TC620 Supreme with 90° countersink chamfer and Walter DeVibe anti-vibration geometry. For the first time, the benefits of multi-row thread milling cutters are combined with an integrated countersinking function. Compared to solutions with conventional thread milling cutters, users benefit from specific advantages: from the parallel machining of several thread sections to the high process reliability of multi-row thread milling cutters due to lower displacement forces, easy handling thanks to rare radius corrections, to time savings because countersinking and threads are created in the same operation – and with the same tool. In addition to the separate countersinking tool that would otherwise be required, the user also saves change-over time, storage capacity and space in the tool magazine. 

    Like the thread milling cutter without countersink chamfer, the TC620 Supreme with 90° countersunk chamfer also features Walter’s patented DeVibe anti-vibration geometry. This significantly increases the tool’s operational smoothness, prevents so-called “chatter marks” and improves thread quality. The multi-row design reduces cutting forces and guarantees high dimensional accuracy of the tool. The internal coolant supply optimizes chip removal at high feed per tooth. The bottom line is that this ensures reliable machining even under extreme conditions. Walter offers the combination tool up to 2 × Din all common diameters (M3-M20) and thread profiles (such as Metric, Metric Fine, UNC/UNF, etc.). Users can thus benefit from high process reliability and low costs per thread in a wide range of applications – with high tool life quantities and up to 50 % shorter machining times.
