Oldham-based Nova Tissue, a leading manufacturer of toilet and kitchen rolls, has made a significant stride toward its sustainability goals by investing in state-of-the-art machinery. The family-run business, which produces and packages 68 million rolls annually for wholesalers, major retailers, and 12 local food banks, secured a £1 million asset finance package from Lloyds Bank to fund the upgrade.
The newly acquired OM1 Bundler and Rewinder Line are already delivering impactful results. Production capacity has increased by 25%, and the business has significantly reduced its reliance on plastic packaging. The Rewinder Line also features an innovative Aquabond system that uses water instead of glue, enhancing tissue quality while cutting production costs.
This strategic investment has allowed Nova Tissue to expand its relationship with a major UK supermarket, while also creating five new jobs. The company is now aiming for a £2 million increase in turnover over the next year.
The move underscores Nova Tissue’s ongoing commitment to sustainability. Its ‘Soft on Nature’ range, made entirely from recycled materials, saves around 150 tonnes of virgin paper each year—the equivalent of preserving 3,850 trees. Additionally, the business has renewed its collaboration with environmental charity Tree Aid, supporting sustainable sourcing, eco-friendly production, and community-focused environmental projects.
