In a significant stride towards bolstering its manufacturing capabilities, IAC International Automotive India Private Limited (IAC India), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Lumax Auto Technologies Limited, today inaugurated two new production facilities in Chakan, Pune.
Formerly known as Lumax Integrated Ventures Private Limited, IAC India stands as a premier Tier-1 supplier of plastic interior systems to leading automotive OEMs including Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, Volkswagen, and Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles. Notably, the company is the exclusive supplier of integrated cockpits and door panels for Mahindra’s recently launched electric vehicle models – the BE6 and XEV9e.
The dual-facility expansion represents a substantial capital investment of approximately ₹640 million and is projected to increase IAC India’s production capacity by an impressive 50%. This move is set to enhance the company’s ability to meet surging demand with heightened efficiency and agility.
The first unit, located within the Mahindra Supplier Park, spans 94,000 sq. ft. and is dedicated to serving Mahindra Vehicle Manufacturers Ltd. The second unit, spread over 70,000 sq. ft. adjacent to the park, is designed to support both Mahindra and other prominent four-wheeler OEMs.
Both facilities are outfitted with cutting-edge manufacturing technologies, including laser scoring, robotic ultrasonic welding, rotary conveyor systems, advanced cockpit production lines designed for Just-In-Sequence (JIS) delivery, Cut & Sew operations, and pressure lamination units. These innovations underscore IAC India’s commitment to delivering precision-engineered, high-quality interior solutions.
In alignment with its sustainability objectives, the plants feature eco-friendly infrastructure, notably a roof-mounted solar power installation with a capacity of 750 KVA, fulfilling up to 30% of the facilities’ energy requirements. Additionally, both units incorporate water harvesting and recycling systems, furthering the company’s environmental stewardship.
This latest expansion reaffirms IAC India’s commitment to driving India’s automotive manufacturing landscape forward, while upholding the Lumax Group’s core values of technological advancement, superior quality, and sustainable growth.
