Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai laid the foundation stone and performed the bhoomipujan for a semiconductor manufacturing facility in Nava Raipur on Friday. The plant will be set up by Chennai-based Polymatech Electronics and will focus on producing advanced Gallium Nitride (GaN) semiconductor chips, essential for enabling 5G and 6G technologies in the state, according to officials from the state’s industry department.
The state government signed an Invitation to Invest agreement with Polymatech during the Chhattisgarh Investor Connect held in New Delhi in December 2024. The project involves an investment of ₹1,143 crore and is projected to create significant employment opportunities for the local population.
Officials further noted that land for the unit was allocated in Sector 5, Nava Raipur, through a tender issued by the Nava Raipur Development Authority. The entire process, from land allotment to lease deed registration, was completed in under 45 days.
Once operational, the facility is expected to manufacture up to 10 billion semiconductor chips by 2030. These chips will support a range of industries, including telecommunications, mobile devices (especially 6G and 7G), laptops, data transmission and analysis, and power electronics.
Developed under a public-private partnership model, the 150,000-square-foot facility aims to position Chhattisgarh as a pivotal player in India’s growing semiconductor manufacturing sector.
Commenting on the project, Chhattisgarh’s Industry Secretary Rajat Kumar stated, “Our collaboration with Polymatech Electronics is set to enhance the state’s global semiconductor manufacturing footprint. The government’s investor-friendly policies and proactive approach make Chhattisgarh a promising destination for cutting-edge technological ventures.”
