India Strengthens Electronics Manufacturing with Inauguration of VVDN Technologies’ SMT Line and Innovation Park
In a major boost to India’s electronics manufacturing sector, Union Minister for Electronics and Information Technology, Railways, and Information & Broadcasting, Ashwini Vaishnaw, inaugurated VVDN Technologies’ largest Surface Mount Technology (SMT) Line and Mechanical Innovation Park at the company’s Global Innovation Park in Manesar, Haryana. The event marked a key milestone in India’s efforts to expand its presence in global electronics value chains.
Highlighting the advancements made over the past decade under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership, the Minister announced that the recently approved Electronics Component Manufacturing Scheme will soon be rolled out. This scheme is designed to complement the National Semiconductor Mission by focusing on passive components, helping to complete the ecosystem necessary for comprehensive electronics component manufacturing.
Vaishnaw noted the remarkable growth of India’s electronics sector, with production surging fivefold to ₹11 lakh crore and exports rising sixfold to over ₹3.25 lakh crore. Calling this a major success under the Make in India initiative, he pointed out that the sector now employs more than 25 lakh people and is positioned for exponential expansion.
