Foxconn is set to manufacture 25-30 million Apple iPhones at its Indian facilities this year, more than doubling last year’s production of approximately 12 million units. This expansion aligns with Apple’s strategy to strengthen its manufacturing footprint in India and diversify its global supply chain, according to sources familiar with the plans.
The Taiwanese electronics giant has been conducting limited trial operations at its Bengaluru plant for the past three to four months, signaling significant progress in its Indian expansion. “With the Bengaluru facility developing rapidly, Foxconn has set higher production targets, in line with Apple’s growing presence in India,”.
As Apple shifts some of its manufacturing away from China, Foxconn has been ramping up investments in mobile assembly in India, with further expansion on the horizon. The ongoing trial runs are a critical step in assessing whether the plant can meet Apple’s production scale and stringent quality standards.
Once the trial phase is successfully completed, Foxconn will advance to the “revenue build” stage, where the assembled iPhones will be ready for distribution. Shipments from the Bengaluru unit will play a key role in achieving the company’s ambitious production targets.
Industry analysts note that the impact of U.S. trade policies, particularly tariffs imposed under former President Donald Trump, remains a crucial factor in Apple’s global manufacturing strategy.
